Gravel Route
On NM-4, Jemez Pueblo, Sandoval County, New Mexico
This is a 58-mile loop with 31 miles of gravel, 17 of pavement, and a lot of climbing. Both gravel segments are washboarded so the descent on FR10 is not as fast as you'd like it to be after all that uphill. There is a store at La Cueva around mile 28.4 with food and water. Parking at the Pueblo of Jemez Welcome Center (toilets also available at the gas station next door). There is also a gravel lot on 290 just west of 4. Starting and ending here would let you avoid getting back on 4 for the last 1.5 miles of the ride when you're tired and don't want to deal with fast cars and narrow shoulders and the last 75 feet of climbing.

Erm, make that 27 miles of pavement. Seems like there's no way to edit the description.
